A plug cutter is a drill-bit-like bit that cuts a dowel like plug from wood, usually with the grain. Plug cutters come in two types , Straight or Tapered . The Straight plug is glued and hammered into the countersunk hole to hide a xxxx or fill a defect and is usually the same grain as the surrounding wood then its trimmed and sanded flush. The Tapered plug is used in the same way but with less glue to allow its easy removal for a possible future disassembly orrapair of a project.
