When I need a router edge guide, I attach a straight piece of wood (like a board or strip) parallel to the router base using screws to hold it to the base ensuring the distance from the router bit to the guide matches your desired cut. The router glides smoothly along the edge for straight, accurate cuts and the desired profile or edge required . The customer has the choice of what the profile will look like and I get only one chance to impress them.
