To smooth edges on wood, a **round-over bit** or a **chamfer bit** is commonly used with a router. A round-over bit gives a curved, smooth edge, while a chamfer bit creates a beveled edge. They both make the edge more comfortable to touch and just give the project a more finished look. I also have these bits in both 1/2 and 1/4 shank sizes for any type of material and thickness.
