Table slot centers and length clarification

In the specs it's stated that the table slot centers are 16 1/16 inch, and their lengths are 3 15/16 inch. In the picture that shows where the fence is mounted to the router table the slots don't look like they are 3 15/16 inch long. Can the measurements be clarified?
