Question: What are the best shank diameters (SHK) for CNC door making insert router bits, and what are the benefits of each?
Answer: The shank diameter (SHK) affects both the stability of the bit and compatibility with your CNC router. The 1/2" shank, is standard in the RC-2483, RC-2485, and RC-4022, offers excellent rigidity, reducing vibration and improving cut quality, especially in demanding door making tasks. Some specialized bits, like those in the AMS-223 set, use 1/4" shanks for finer detail work. I have a selection of both shank sizes in my shop and ensures compatibility with different machines and the project / job requirements. In my shop quality is the key to getting a job done on time and to the customers satisfaction.
Question: What spindle speed is needed for routing?
Answer: The spindle speed needed for routing depends on the material and the diameter of the router bit. Generally, harder materials and smaller bits require higher spindle speeds, while softer materials and larger bits need lower speeds. Always consult the manufacturer's recommendations for optimal results and to avoid damaging the tool or workpiece. In my shop we don't "Force" a tool or bit because it will break and that will cost time and money to get a replacement. That being said I stock a few of each for uninterrupted jobs .
