Question: Which is finer, 220 or 120 sandpaper?
Answer: The 220 sandpaper is finer than 120 sandpaper. The higher the grit number, the smaller and finer the abrasive particles, making 220 grit better for smooth finishing, while 120 grit is coarser and used for a more aggressive material removal and the lower grit the more aggressive as in the 40 through 80 grit sizes. Sanding has and order which must be followed for the best quality outcome.
Question: Can I use a Dremel for detail sanding?
Answer: Yes, you can use a Dremel for detail sanding, especially in small or hard-to-reach areas. By attaching sanding drums or discs, a Dremel tool can efficiently smooth and shape wood, metal, or plastic surfaces where larger sanders can't reach. In my shop I also use the Fein MultiMaster MM 500 for great detail sanding and also tight corner sanding.
