To measure a router collet use a caliper to measure the internal diameter of the collet opening where the router bit shank fits. The most common sizes and in my many routers are 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and 1/2 inch (12.7 mm). Make sure to measure across the widest part of the opening for an accurate size. Always rely on the manufacturers specifications for safe operation.
