A plunge / track saw works by allowing the blade to be lowered (or "plunged") into the material from above, rather than starting at the edge. It runs along a guide rail for straight, precise cuts and is ideal for making clean, accurate plunge cuts in wood or other materials. Plunge / Track saws are very handy and I use the ones I have in my shop and on job sites. Quality track saws are the best tool for those large panel break-downs, I use a piece of ridged foam insulation as my backer board.
