A 1/4" shank, as found on the Amana Tool 47302, is common and fits most routers, making it versatile for general use. Larger 1/2" shanks, like on the Amana Tool 47309, offer enhanced rigidity and reduced vibration, providing smoother cuts, especially in demanding or heavy-duty applications. In my shop I use both sizes because of the different jobs that i create, Having this variety of bits makes my projects go uninterrupted and gives me on-time completion.
