The cutter diameter affects both the area covered per pass and the control you have over the cut when using a bevel trim router bit. For larger diameters, such as the 1-3/4" I use the Amana Tool 47309, that allows for more efficient trimming on larger surfaces and produces a smoother finish with less chance of burning. Smaller diameters, like the 1/2" on the Amana Tool 47201 which I also use are ideal for tight spaces, detailed work, or intricate curves.
