The shank diameter isvery important because it affects the rigidity and how the chamfer bitfits in your router or CNC machine. Larger shank diameters, like 1/2" or 3/4", provide increased stability, reduce vibration, and allow for heavier cutting, making them great for really demanding applications. Smaller shanks, such as 1/4", are suitable for lighter tasks or CNCs with smaller collets. Example the RC-2375 uses a 1/2" shank for a strong excellent performance, while the DRB-416 fits a 1/4" shank for more delicate operations as in engraving. In my shop having a variety of shank sizes for the different routers and CNCs available allows me to create the perfect finish for my customers and personal use.
